The journey of Burundi Action began unexpectedly in Nairobi, Kenya. While waiting for a flight, our founder, Fabien Raymondaud, met a young man named Egide, who had traveled from Burundi in search of work, only to face violence and starvation. He had no place to go and had lost nearly everything, including three sisters who were murdered during the genocide. Moved by his story, Fabien financed Egide’s return home and made a promise—to help him and his family, and, by extension, his community who lives in a tiny village in the hills.

That encounter sparked the vision for Burundi Action, an organisation that seeks to provide tangible solutions for those in dire need. What started as a promise to one family has grown into a mission to serve many more.
